I feel pretty good about where we are right now in the project…. The model is being 3d printed right now and we really can’t do anything with that until the morning… daniel is downstairs working on making a small model of the button so we can give people a sense of scale. Yichen and i made the street model yesterday afternoon… and i’m working on the process book right now. Kind of sucks that this is the first process book that i have had to make but I have daniels to look at kind of as a guide so that i wont leave anything out i hope! All i know is that i am so ready for this to be over and go home for the break

We are working on the interface and body build of our model right now…. We decided to do a free standing model…. although I kind of liked the idea of it being a modular piece that you can add onto a pole instead of just having to add another whole nother object… but we discussed it and there isn’t always enough space to have people crowding around the pole it would block people from getting from the crosswalk push button. My design had it integrated into the kiosk, but i understand that too could also be dangerous if the pole is too close to the street…. so now we are just trying to figure out the interface… bleh

So im working on looking into other kiosks and city directories and seeing what types of things they used to let people get knowledge about what types of things are going on around them. We haven’t found very many but the ones that were found really tend to focus on activities that would be more for tourists in a certain city. There is nothing wrong with that, but we are trying to focus on making the city like a new city for the citizens. We want to encourage exploration when people think that they already know everything to do or everywhere to go already.  One of the kiosks that I found included things like jobs…  specifically a kiosk in scottland.. which is great, but at the same time i dont want it to be bombarded with options and jobs doesnt really fit the idea of exploration its more like planting yourself in an area. So thats what im doing right now… yep

i’m alive

well after being intensley sick the past few days im back alive… which is pretty exciting for me. I have kept up working on the project though and I think that Daniel and I have stumbled onto a great idea. He was working with kiosks and I was thinking about altering interaction with signs and crosswalks with different devices… so we were thinking a small kiosk that could be placed either on the street lamp or and road sign below the cross walk box. This could be located on every corner allowing you to simply push a button saying what you want in the area… say food… it could randomly locate restaurants within a certain mile radius for pedestrians and give the most pedestrian friendly route to each location… it could do lots of different variations of that!

Im pretty excited about this new project on transportation.. we chose pedestrian to be our focus. Daniel and I went to atlantic station to check things out there and were thinking about doing transitional spaces like parking decks where you drive to get there but walk out… but while we were there we actually generated more ideas about running and walking through the city. By running we thought about difficulties that they have running outside since there are really no paths in the city… also  we thought about surveying a running group. The walking one is a little more in depth i thought about how we dont have any above ground cross walks here in atlanta.. .so would n’t it be cool if there was kind of a pedestrian highway above the highway? yeah

So I guess i really enjoyed the last project  but now im not so sure how i did on it. Raja made came over and commented on how the picture I took wasn’t good. Even though I really liked it. I wanted the two people’s bodies to frame the bottle of crown and I thought by putting them in the background in black and white it would set up and image and made the crown bottle stand out bc its still in color. But raja said it pretty much didn’t look good and my friends looked too  young.  SUCKS cause i thought they looked really nice and I did the best i could.
